چکیده

A multistage stochastic programming approach to airline network revenue management is presented. The objective is to determine seat protection levels for all itineraries, fare classes, point of sales of the airline network and all data collection points of the booking horizon such that the expected revenue is maximized. While the passenger demand and cancelation rate processes are the stochastic inputs of the model, the stochastic protection level process represents its output and allows to control the booking process. The stochastic passenger demand and cancelation rate processes are approximated by a finite number of tree structured scenarios. The scenario tree is generated from historical data using a stability-based recursive scenario reduction scheme. Numerical results for a small hub-and-spoke network are reported.

Two-stage stochastic programming model for capacitated complete star p-hub network with different fare classes of customers

In this paper, a stochastic programming approach is applied to the airline network revenue management problem. The airline network with the arc capacitated single hub location problem based on complete–star p-hub network is considered. We try to maximize the profit of the transportation company by choosing the best hub locations and network topology, applying revenue management techniques to al...

AIRLINE STOCHASTIC CAPACITY ALLOCATION BY APPLYING REVENUE MANAGEMENT

To formulate a single-leg seat inventory control problem in an airline ticket sales system, the concept and techniques of revenue management are applied in this research. In this model, it is assumed the cabin capacity is stochastic and hence its exact size cannot be forecasted in advance, at the time of planning. There are two groups of early-reserving and late-purchasing customers demanding t...

Joint Optimization of Star P-hub Median Problem and Seat Inventory Control Decisions Considering a Hybrid Routing Transportation System

In this paper, we study the problem of integrated capacitated hub location problem and seat inventory control considering concept and techniques of revenue management. We consider an airline company maximizes its revenue by utilizing the best network topology and providing proper booking limits for all itineraries and fare classes. The transportation system arises in the form of a star/star net...

What Multistage Stochastic Programming Can Do for Network Revenue Management

Airlines must dynamically choose how to allocate their flight capacity to incoming travel demand. Because some passengers take connecting flights, the decisions for all network flights must be made simultaneously. To simplify the decision making process, most practitioners assume demand is deterministic and equal to average demand. We propose a multistage stochastic programming approach that mo...
